   Authentic Italian food! Staff always nice and attentive. Ambience very pleasant with soft music never noisy.

   Would have loved to have another choice of shape for GF pasta ie something you can twirl. But Cacio Pepe wonderful and GF baguette also wonderful.

   No need to go through the Caldecott Tunnel for some excellent Italian food! The appetizers were on point (the cauliflower is our favorite), and having been to Rome in recent month, the pinsas were authentic. Shout out to Antonio who was behind the bar and our server was so accommodating. He had an excellent recommendation for a sparkling wine. They have a huge Amaro collection, and we enjoyed the tasting menu on an earlier visit. We had an excellent pistachio coffee martini to accompany our pistachio filled pinsa for dessert. We'll be back!

   I’ve enjoyed an evening out here several times and the food and our server Luca is always great with no exception this evening. The lower rating was because as we were receiving our dessert the assistant manager, I believe her name was Lupita, told us she had a group waiting for our table and we’d need to move - we were shocked! We hadn’t slow rolled by any means and ate as fast as the food was served. I asked “Right Now - we have to pick up our desserts and move to the bar.” She explained, “well, you can finish your dessert but if you want to hang out longer you can move to the bar as I need this table”. I’ve never been asked to due this unless we were told ahead of time there was a seating or something. Insult to injury, there was a table adjacent that had been seated well before us but they weren’t rushed to accommodate a four top. I’ll be speaking to Lupita next visit! Put a damper on the evening.

   I usually love this restaurant. The last time I went, the service was terrible. Part of our table had to wait almost 10 minutes before the rest of our table was served. Our courses got cold while we waited. That happened twice during the course of the meal. Our entrees were served before our salad plates were cleared. New wine was served without removing our old wine glasses. The table was so overcrowded with glasses and plates that it was a mess and should have been cleaned up. No offer of ground pepper for the salad, or Parmesan and chili flakes for the pinsa or pasta. My friends and I were so disappointed. I had really talked this place up. Now I’m just embarrassed.

    Had a great time at Montesacro Saturday night. The drink program is fantastic. We really enjoyed the Pistachio creme espresso martinis and the gin drinks. The ambiance has just the right lighting and noise level for a night out. The service was not rushed and we were able to linger, order items along the way and really have a relaxing meal. This is a great addition to the Walnut Creek dining options and really had a European feel. Food-wise, the special salad with garbonzos, fennel and citrus was refreshing and light and the Pulpo was cooked perfectly. The pizzas have the best crust, but the Margarita pizza with arugula was a little flat. Could have used a little finishing salt or something. We added a little Calabrian chili oil, which adding a nice zing. The Cacio e Pepe was perfectly cooked and nice and creamy. We added some chili flakes to cut the creaminess, yum. The flourless chocolate cake was the only real dud of the evening. It was not the dense flourless chocolate cake we were expecting. Tasted and texture was more like a cupcake, really dry and fell apart, very little taste. Overall, a great evening out with friends.
