In Italian, Acquolina means “mouthwatering” – illustrating what happens when you see a delicious, inviting dish. This phenomenon can only happen when food is made with passion and love. For us, food “is a social matter. ” In turn, Acquolina weds a passion for food with a real respect for the community in which it stands – welcoming a mix of locals and visitors, singles and families, welcoming guests of all ages and lifestyles.

At Acquolina, we endeavor to create a vibrant and lively atmosphere where our patrons can revel in the experience of an authentic and “regional” Italian meal. The Tuscan-infused menu is meant to pair with an assortment of wines, with samplings from Italy and California. In the spirit of the Tuscan Trattoria, everything is meant to be authentic – the pasta boiler and the pizza oven came direct from Italy, brought here to guarantee a perfect plate of “al dente” pasta and a perfect slice of thin crust pizza.

                                                                    Have been several times, and was impressed when the staff did an amazing job on a busy holiday night. We went on Thanksgiving, and the line out the door didn't end the whole time we dined. We had a holiday salad as a starter, the pasta with guanciale in the cheese bowl (a very fun show that is video-worthy) and the branzino with fries. Had a bottle of wine and affogato for dessert. Everything was delicious. Marvin was a very good server. His timing was crisp. We never had to wait more than a minute or two before he came by to answer questions/bring food. The support staff were fast with water pouring/table clearing. Thank you to the restaurant for being open on Thanksgiving. We'll definitely be back!!!

                                                                    The service was disappointing, with staff displaying a lack of professionalism and a poor attitude. Additionally, some dishes are only available after 5 PM, a detail that is not clearly communicated on their website. To make matters worse, a 20% tip was automatically added to the bill, leaving no choice in the matter despite the subpar experience. This lack of transparency and forced tipping has left me unwilling to return.

                                                                    It was nice to walk through the neighborhood to Acquolina. Taking in the ambiance as we waited to be seated. Not a huge place. Fairly loud music. Big screen TV. Football. Large tall window looking out to street with strings of tiny lights. Garden boxes with hanging ivy. At first the person reviewing the reservations said, I don’t have a reservation for you. So, I showed on the iPhone the open table reservation. Suddenly, the person sad, Oh. Here it is. I guess be prepared to prove a reservation. The Tiny table hardly seemed comfortable, and there were several bigger empty tables. The seating person said, I have large party coming to the larger tables when I asked about being seated at a larger place. The wait staff person is very helpful and very good. The Prosecco is delish. The Calamari is very good and made even better with an extra dash of salt and pepper. The Bruschetta - very good - bread is softer that traditional bruschetta and the flavor is wonderful. The ravioli dish is uniquely flavored, yes, it seemed like it even had tiny sweet mandarin orange slices in a few mouthfuls. The pasta is perfectly prepared. The Tiramisu portion is economical but delicious. A nice place in a nice setting.

                                                                    We tried this restaurant for SF restaurant week and we enjoyed it so much. The bruschetta and calamari were great to start and then we did the add in for the “live cook” inside the cheese wheel and were not disappointed at all. Tiramisu for dessert had a lot of espresso flavor and the drinks with dinner were fantastic. We will be back to eat from the standard menu for sure
