   We always have a great family meal when we're at Alexander's. The steaks are the best in the Bay area as is the Prime Rib. The appetizers are modern takes on classics such as the Caesar or Wedge salads, to a very modern jamon iberico and burrata. While not cheap, the quality and service make this a memorable experience.

   This place was amazing! It's clear that care is in everything they do. They made us feel special, the pace of the meal was great, and the food was spectacular. The mocktail menu was especially lovely. We will be coming back again soon.

   Server was not great - somewhat condescending and inattentive. Food was just OK for 3 of the 5 meals, and definitely not worth price tag. I will give them kudos for not only having personalized birthday cards, but also personalized dessert plates for my son and his friend, whose 21st birthdays we were celebrating. Unexpected, and very much appreciated!

   My wife and I ate Wagyu Kaiseki course. Appetizers were very good. Particular Miyazaki Tataki and Hamachi shot. Also, Kagoshima Wagy steak. But I think Wagy Fired rice is strange. I don't say very bad taste. I feel it doesn't match with the concept of this course. Other parts (ambient, serve) are good.

   Disappointing birthday experience. Husband saw hair on the table when they brought out the palate cleaner (spicy ahi tuna). We were offered to move to another table, but decided to stay after they removed hair. We thought that was the worse of our problems. Then our steaks came out. We both ordered the split bone rib eye. Both of our steaks had about 50% gristle! It was inedible and we just got tired of trying to cut the tough tissue away from the meat. This is not the quality we have experienced in the past from Alexander's Steakhouse. I don't like to complain, especially when I'm trying to enjoy my birthday meal, but it was just too much. The only saving grace was that the manager removed the steaks from our bill. Still, this was not how I wanted to celebrate my birthday. I am still in shock that Alexander's served those steaks to us. It was just so sad.
