Established in 1941, Cedar Knoll is a historic restaurant with sweeping views of the Potomac River. Cedar Knoll is set just off the beautiful George Washington Parkway, which makes for a scenic drive. The restaurant was built around a log cabin dating back to the early 1800's, so the history is apparent from the moment you step inside. Each room possesses charming qualities adding to the ambiance. Whether you dine in the comfortable elegance of the Presidential Room or the natural splendor of the Botanical Room, both set the perfect stage for an evening with family, friends, and loved ones. Cedar Knoll is conveniently located minutes between Old Town Alexandria and George Washington's Mount Vernon Estate.

                                            We love Cedar Knoll and have been going here for years m. The have fantastic creative food tonight I had the oyster stew it was amazing. My goal is to try everything on the menu because I have loved everything I have ever ordered.

                                            We saw Cedar Knoll on a list of 100 U.S. “Hidden Gem” restaurants and decided to reserve a table for our anniversary dinner. It was an excellent choice: a cozy booth by a picture window looking out on sunset over the Potomac River, friendly and professional service, and an upscale—but not over the top—menu. We especially enjoyed the grilled octopus appetizer, and the venison and rockfish entrees—all expertly prepared and presented.

                                            This was a special occasion: Valentine’s day. Staff were inexperienced and kitchen likely understaffed/trained. We were an hour in and only had our appetizer, and they didn’t disclose the prix fixe menu price until it was charged. We loved this location previously, and now doubt it. Inconsistent, mediocre menu and overpriced.

                                            We were not notified ahead of time of the set menu, choices or price. No music playing in restaurant for ambiance. Old fashioned style cocktail came out without bourbon in it. Took 45 minutes to an hour to get starters. The included dessert included in set menu were certainly not the quality for price per person paid. Overpriced for quality of experience. However, quality of entree almost made up for the respective red flags noted. Decent international wine list. Very friendly and accommodating server. Local small batch ingredients.

                                            Delicious food (Restaurant Week specials), charming atmosphere, able to converse easily because it wasn't noisy! Haven't been there for years but will definitely go back soon.
