Finally, a New York style atmosphere and experience crosses the Hudson to Central Jersey. Char Steakhouse's innovative cuisine features only the finest cuts of Dry Aged and Prime Beef with fish delivered fresh daily. Guests will dine by landscaped views revealed by towering windows. Mahogany wood walls and ceiling treatments create an authentic steakhouse environment rivaled by none in the New Jersey dining scene. Unique features include four modern fireplaces that are the first of their kind, a curved wall of water that rains serenity in the aptly named Rain Room. Guests can enjoy 7 cuts of the finest quality dry aged beef or snack on oysters and colossal blue crab from our premier raw bar. Seating in the lounge is offered on a first come first serve basis or party goers can reserve arched custom booths for up to twelve. The food and service were both excellent, price for a table for two with two apps, two entrees, two drinks and two desserts (one taken off the bill for a birthday, which was unexpected!) came out to around $100/pp and it was well worth it. If I absolutely had to nitpick, the medium-rare filet had a bit of a char on the outside in places that gave it a partially crunchy texture in those areas. I would highly recommend and will definitely be back!

Great service from our server (Brian). He turned what would have been a 4 star review into an overall 5 star rating. Food and ambiance were good but the service and attention we received from Brian made the difference. I would give Char another try to see if we get a similar experience with a different server. Prices are high and some items just aren’t worth the cost so pay attention as you bill can get expensive. If the prices were a bit more reasonable, I would have rated the “Value” higher than a 3. At the current prices, there are many restaurants in the area that you might find as a better overall value. With that said, I would return again and just pay more attention to what each item costs.

Great dinner for NYE! Our waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. Brought out all courses perfectly timed. Food was delicious and ambiance was perfection.

service was fairly good though i felt our waiter could have come over to our table sooner to take our order food was good but not what i expected given the quality of the restaurant overall not a bad place to eat though i feel it is not worth it for the prices
