Finally, a New York style atmosphere and experience crosses the Hudson to Central Jersey. Char Steakhouse's innovative cuisine features only the finest cuts of Dry Aged and Prime Beef with fish delivered fresh daily. Guests will dine by landscaped views revealed by towering windows. Mahogany wood walls and ceiling treatments create an authentic steakhouse environment rivaled by none in the New Jersey dining scene. Unique features include four modern fireplaces that are the first of their kind, a curved wall of water that rains serenity in the aptly named Rain Room. Guests can enjoy 7 cuts of the finest quality dry aged beef or snack on oysters and colossal blue crab from our premier raw bar. Seating in the lounge is offered on a first come first serve basis or party goers can reserve arched custom booths for up to twelve. Usually everything is cooked perfectly and delicious. This night everything was delicious, byt my steak was a little too rare. This normally would not be something I am going to nit pick. But at the prices you pay, the main course should be cooked to perfection. Yes I could have sent it back, but again, it still tasted good, just not the way I like it. Our server was great, professional and helpful. The noise level was way too loud, but it was a full house and the holidays. Char is a good place for a special meal or just a night out on the town.

Pricey for some items. Moderate for others. Everything is a la carte. Sea bass was good, but a very small portion for $46. You get NO sides, bread or salad - nothing with your entree. Sides are additional $12 - $22. Espresso martini was very good but $20. Tiramisu was a large portion and $20. Staff was great, place was very nice, Holiday decor classy.

We had a 8:45 reservation for our 33rd anniversary. We arrived slightly ahead of time were told that they were on time and would call when the table was ready. We went to the bar but couldn’t get near it, it was so crowded it took 15 minutes to get a drink. We asked about our table. Now they were running late. We finally got seated at 9:25. The food and waiter were great. It was so loud that we couldn’t carry on a conversation. We were mixed among several large parties. The environment is very upscale I wish we could have appreciated it more.

Loved the atmosphere and the energy of this downtown restaurant. Our waitress was great & very helpful. Very crowed on a Saturday night at 8pm. My only issue was that our party of 5 had to wait 45 minutes past our reservation time, thank goodness our group was patient, because that was very annoying.

Went to dinner with my two adult daughters. We had reservation for 7:00PM and did not get seated until after 7:30PM. Service was not as good as it should have been either, looked to me that they were very shorthanded and had a bunch of office parties and noise level was the loudest I have ever heard in a restaurant. Food was good but I would probably not go back to this restaurant for those reasons.

Food just okay! They plop a 14 oz steak on a white plate ($69.99) that was small, not piping hot or juicy (actually more like warm) and literally just okay! It’s like OMG why are we allowing restaurants to charge this ludicrous amount of money for something that’s borderline okay!! Sides were fair at best, truffle fries tasty but soggy, creamed spinach had a weird spice, mashed potatoes dry! Husbands said Caesar salad was good, popovers good, food all just fair and disappointing to be honest! We’ve been to Many steakhouses, and Char (also it wasn’t a charred steak!! No bbq flavor for grill) disappointing us
