Opened in 2017. Michelin-recommended since 2022.We first imagined Aloette to be the perfect diner that we’d want to dine in – a menu with a great cheeseburger paired with a fantastic and fun wine list, a long row of bar stools facing the bar and the kitchen, and an energetic atmosphere accented with an old school hip hop playlist. The buzz of the dining room mirrors the energy of the street on Spadina Avenue; the dining room itself mimics a train’s dining car. It’s a bistro-meets-diner-meets-internationally-inspired menu which is also representative of the diverse culture in Toronto. Our service team is upbeat and genuine but also deeply knowledgeable about the menu and offerings. Brunch at Aloette was something we said we’d never do. But the city kept asking and we’re glad to be a new staple in the Queen West neighbourhood for mimosas, chicken and waffles, and piping hot coffees. This classic supper club boasts live performances every night, from Tuesday through Saturday. Whether it's for business or a nice night out, the Berczy is ideal with its more laid back ambience in the bar/lounge and a bit more upscale feeling in the dining room. It's an elegant and beautiful space yet still feels cozy and welcoming. I'd attribute that to the excellent staff who are attentive (but not cloyingly so) and friendly. They remember guests' preferences, make solid recommendations and are always pleasant. No matter how busy the place gets, you never feel rushed. Needless to say, the food is the main reason to visit, and Chef Michael Angeloni and his team don't disappoint. The seasonal menu is exceptional - innovative but not inaccessible - fresh and flavourful. Their bartenders also make a great martini amongst other creative cocktails. There really is something for everyone at the Berczy.
