Poppies in Hanbury Street was Pop’s first restaurant and the one where the journey began. The retro-diner and takeaway is close to Pop’s heart as it brought 70year old Pat out of retirement. A quiet, beautifully hidden space in the heart of Peckham. The menu is minimal and well-executed, and Francesco was a brilliant host. Furthermore, the tiramisu is the best I’ve had in London. We will definitely be coming back:)

Ambience was great, food could have been better (the scrambled eggs were a bit too runny for me) and presentation could have been better as well. A lot of banging of plates and cutlery in the kitchen which was a little loud and distracting.
