Dining at The Old Deanery is an immersive experience, and you move through the building as you dine. Arrive into the cosy welcome lounge for pre-dinner drinks; chat, get comfortable, and relax – there will be no classical piano and hushed tones in here! Move through to the bar where you can watch some of the chefs work before they invite you to take your first course. The main event takes place in the restaurant, but forget white tablecloths and stilted service; the food may be formal but the atmosphere is not. Finally, you can retire after dinner to a cosy chair and enjoy a coffee and petits fours. Stay the night and enjoy views of either the lovely garden, or striking Cathedral. Fabulous place, staff were brilliant, food choice great, quality and taste with superb, drink selection wide. Restaurant was nice, great aumbience. Price was reflective of the quality of food / service. You will lot be disappointed.

The food was delicious, big portions. It comes out quick so we asked for a break twice which the team were happy to accommodate. The main course is epic. Beautifully cooked. The beef just melts, and literally I could eat that cauliflower cheese all day long. They kindly packed my desert up.

Lovely Sunday lunch with lots of delicious veg. Beef was tasty and tender. My daughter’s nut roast also got the thumbs up. Delicious brownies to finish and cappuccinos, chai and mint tea. Friendly service and even the dogs sausage sliced on the diagonal for great presentation! Never regretted a meal here, brunch, dinner or Sunday lunch.
