Open Tuesday to Sunday for lunch and dinner, The European offers a welcoming ambience with warm, generous and knowledgeable hospitality - a beacon of Melbourne dining at its finest. Located on Spring Street near the Princess Theatre, we offer classic bistro fare with substance and character to perfectly complement our extensive collection of wines, old and new world, available to enjoy with your meal. We also welcome you on a walk-in basis next door at The City Wine Shop any day of the week, where you may simply pop in for a seat at the bar or grab a spot outside overlooking Parliament House. We take the best seasonal produce available, cooking simple, classic foods. Nose-to-tail offal dishes are centred within our menu, utilising every part of the animal products in our kitchen. Drawing on our own in-house butcher and farmhouse cheeses matured by our friends at Spring Street Cheese Cellar, there is always something new to try on the menu at The European and City Wine Shop.

Carlton Wine Room is a neighbourhood restaurant offering a well-executed, fresh, seasonal food menu, and an ever changing, diverse wine list featuring the best of Italy, Australia and the rest of the World. We offer a bar space, an upstairs restaurant dining room and three unique spaces that are can be booked for private dining perfect for special events.RESERVATIONS: are for a two hour sitting. We do not accept bookings for drinks and snacks, however we accept walk-ins for this if space permits. A surcharge of up to 1.2% applies to credit card transactions. A surcharge of 10% applies on Sundays and 15% on Public Holidays. OUTSIDE SEATING: please note this is subject to the weather and we may not be able to move your reservation inside in the case of bad weather. Our head chef Eric Kwek, previously from CODA, has carefully curated the menu with quality local produce.Our paperbark Roasted Murray cod is our signature dish.Paperbark is traditionally used by indigenous cultures as bedding and to wrap proteins in before tossing them into the fire and we have adopted this method to cook our Murray Cod. We thoroughly enjoyed the dinner at Il Solito Posto. Much has changed, for the better, since we last visited four years ago. The food is as good as before, the venue is now more vibrant and offers better value. The wine selection is interesting and attractive. Would highly recommend this

Seriously interesting food. Canoe of bone marrow eg with a nod to St Johns in London (this was better than the one I had there). Excellent wine list unsurprisingly Great service unobtrusive but attentive

After our first experience here, a recent magnificent Christmas lunch, we were keen to return and we were not disappointed. The food is delicious and the menu is very easy to adapt to a grazing/sharing style. The music play list was hand picked and had a nearby table also trying to guess the artist or band. Lighting, ambience and staff were all great. I can see why they are celebrating 30 years in business. We’ll definitely return! Thanks!

Great little wine bar away from the serious busyness of west end of Swan St. Extensive wine list, great outdoor area out the back and small but great selection of food. Service was brilliant. Will be back!
