When you come to Opheem, you get an insight into the inner workings of my mind. We’re striving to push the boundaries with Indian flavours, but with cooking techniques from all over the world, some traditional, and some very modern. At Opheem, I’ll be using the same paints as I’ve always done, to create a very different picture, on a very, very different canvas. Why? Because to evolve and adapt is what makes us human, and cooking is what sets us apart from the animals.

Situated in Dordon, just outside the historic market town of Tamworth, Simla is simply one of the most stunning Indian Restaurants in the Midlands today.
Simla is much more than just an independent Indian restaurant; it’s a wonderful exotic culinary experience serving only the finest traditional and fusion Indian cuisine. Formerly Cafe Simla,
Itihaas restaurant in Birmingham is one stunning eaterie. This beautiful restaurant —the name means ‘history’ -- is the £2 million brainchild of businessman Raj Rana and it’s been raking in awards since it opened its doors. The décor is contemporary meets traditional with two dining rooms honouring colonial and maharaja eras – there are slate finished walls, original paintings, carved stone elephants, Jali marble window frames like those found in Mogul palaces and elegant black sari-clad hostesses. Chef Amardeep Saka offers intriguing dishes influenced by North India, Mumbai, Chinese fusion and Kenya. The cuisine and service are royal, yet the ambience is relaxed and informal – a history-making combination in anyone’s book.
