A native of Italy, and fluent in five languages, Chef Gaetano Ascione brings international flair to Munster, with experience, teaching, owning restaurants, consulting, and running hotels on four continents – Asia, Europe, Africa and North America. He served both Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan as Chef de Cuisine at the Georgetown Club in Washington, D.C., and served as Executive Chef for the Inaugural Banquet for President Nelson Mandela in South Africa.He is a member of the Confrérie de la Chaîne des Rôtisseurs 1248-1950, the American Culinary Federation, and the Gruppo Virtuale Cuochi Italiani. The former owners of the Venezia Bar & Grill and Café Venezia, Benito and Hilda Gamba, have combined their efforts into the Gamba Ristorante. Located in Merrillville, this restaurant is housed in an architectural masterpiece, which is hard to miss with its circular design and copper roof. Modeled after upscale restaurants in exotic European locations, the menu offers classic Italian cuisine. The wine room boasts storage space for 1,000 bottles.     We had an amazing time. In town for a client meeting and we’re with us for dinner. Food was fantastic and Lisa was the most amazing and fun waitress we’ve ever had. She made it so fun and all her recommendations were on point. Owner stopped by to say hi and it was his birthday. What an amazing experience! Thank you, all!

    We used to go to the Signature Room in Chicago for our anniversary dinner. Since that restaurant has been closed down, we needed a new place to go, so we tried Gamba. It was AMAZING. Our food was delicious and served super hot. The appetizer we had was calamari and it was cooked perfectly. The atmosphere was beautiful and the feel of family was felt throughout; from the pictures on the walls to the servers. Highly recommend Gamba.

    The ambiance is amazing. Aesthetically stunning with fabulous decor. The staff from start to finish is top tier. Delicious is an understatement for the food & drinks. I had the most tender delectable filet I’ve ever eaten. Compliments to the chef! My party & I were also wowed with the table side Ceasars salad prep. I will definitely patronize Rosebud Steakhouse in Munster again.
