Its origins were as a Merchants house and it is believed that smugglers used the old tunnel to the river from the cellars. On the doorstep of the bustling Borough Market, the first Casa do Frango lies within a converted 19th-century industrial warehouse, a building full of character, complete with vaulted ceilings, arched windows and relics of the past. Casa’s menu is inspired by the rich culinary history of Portugal and the wider Mediterranean. True to Portuguese tradition, there is an emphasis on cooking over a wood-charcoal grill. The restaurant has become known for piri-piri chicken, with perfectly caramelised skin and a deep flavour which comes from a brush of Casa’s secret piri-piri blend. We had to leave our table unexpectedly because my fiend received a call to say his son was being taken to hospital following an accident. The manager waived the cost of the water and helped us exit immediately. It was very compassionate and kind. We shall return and cannot commend the staff enough.

As ever food was good, but for some reason we were near the bar area, close to the front door, lots of cod air rushing down the stairs! Made it an uncomfortable meal sadly
