A sherwal is a traditional, multi-layered baggy men’s trousers worn in various areas of the Mediterranean. Centuries old, it is a rare sight nowadays, except in remote villages and at traditional cultural ceremonies and, well, at our restaurant. Why name our restaurant after an archaic pants? Because, somehow, this pair of comfortable pants has found its way into our modern world, with little tweaks here and there taking the form of harem pants or baggy jeans, fusing the old with the new. And this is what we want to do. We want to take old culinary masterpieces from the Mediterranean and fuse them together, with new flavours here and there, adding new colours and new tastes to the table.

Simone, the Head Chef and co-owner of Zafferano grew up inside the kitchen of his family's restaurant in Porticello, Sicily and brings that passion and authenticity to his food. Interesting and tasty weekly specials are the go to @ Where’s Nick’s! Wines by the glass are special and great value. Knowledgeable staff guide you to the wines to best match preference and the delicious food

We did not know what to expect and we were blown away by the food and the service. Great but limited Greek wines too and reasonably priced. The carpaccio and the tarama were knock out as were the brussel sprouts.

Food good though entree and main nearly came together .. duck spring rolls great rump steak great and barramundi great Service bit poor .. waited ages for water .. and for someone to take our order .. so we went to bar ourselves
