Yana Coogee, situated a stone’s throw away from the beach on the main promenade of Coogee, is inspired by Chef Same Lane's passion for the simplicity of cooking with an open fire and the feeling of being surrounded by great food, drink and company. The delicate smokey aromas from the kitchen greet guests as they arrive in our Australian inspired interior with exposed brick walls and leather seating booths - altogether, setting the scene for a delicious, fire-touched dining experience. The menu will be agile to work closely with the dynamic nature of the availability of local produce. You can expect to enjoy a menu including Whole King Prawns with Nduja butter, 1.2kg black onyx Tomahawk with oregano Verde, and sides including Medley with Heirloom carrots, radish, zucchini, Sheep yoghurt, sumac, and honey. Dined at Margaret's on Friday 21st Feb for lunch. The entree that stood out was the sashimi of pearl meat, wonderfully textured with a zingy citrus tang from the white soy ponzu. For main the lamb cutlets with hassisa, 3 cutlets beautifully cooked with the hassisa having a gentle bite but not overpowering the cutlets. Enjoyed a fig and walnut pudding to finish. A light, beautifully textured dessert with the flavour of the fig punctuating each mouthful. Wait staff we friendly and informative. Wine matches were very good. The restaurant was busy and alive with the hum of conversations. I am looking forward to my next visit.

My friend and I shared the seafood pasta and prawn truffle pizza. Both absolutely delicious. The ambience of the venue is very good. Like that it’s byo also.

I highly recommend this fabulous gem in Coogee. Fabulous cocktails, great menu featuring cooking on open fire which adds another level to results. The staff were very attentive. A stand out was the home made burnt Basque cheesecake which literally melted in your mouth. Very reasonably priced as well. Overall a fabulous vibe.
