The Ivy restaurant has been a firm fixture on London’s dining and social scene since 1917. The restaurant and private room upstairs are the epitome of real glamour. It was a convenient place to meet (four of us) for a Christmas get together. Being in the city it was very busy at seven o’clock but emptied soon afterwards. It was a rather pleasant experience - not the best but not bad either. The ambiance is more one of a cafe rather than a restaurant. Unfortunately the venison was not available, a disappointment for me. The cocktails were good. Two of us had the cheese soufflé which was excellent and the other two has the mushroom tartine and the crab Bon-Bons. We continued with cod fillet, pork ribeye and chicken supreme. All of them very good.
