On the doorstep of the bustling Borough Market, the first Casa do Frango lies within a converted 19th-century industrial warehouse, a building full of character, complete with vaulted ceilings, arched windows and relics of the past. Casa’s menu is inspired by the rich culinary history of Portugal and the wider Mediterranean. True to Portuguese tradition, there is an emphasis on cooking over a wood-charcoal grill. The restaurant has become known for piri-piri chicken, with perfectly caramelised skin and a deep flavour which comes from a brush of Casa’s secret piri-piri blend. This is the second time I've been to Douro, previously for lunch, last night for dinner. Both times the food has been excellent and very reasonably priced. I was particularly impressed by the service both on the night, where it was attentive without being overbearing, and in advance when my booking number oscillated between 7 and 10 and the Douro team were quick to confirm that the changing numbers weren't a problem. I'll definitely be back as will the friends I came with last night.

We had to leave our table unexpectedly because my fiend received a call to say his son was being taken to hospital following an accident. The manager waived the cost of the water and helped us exit immediately. It was very compassionate and kind. We shall return and cannot commend the staff enough.
