Originally built as a farmhouse for Link House Farm, one of the three farms which made up early Amble, the pub is one of the oldest buildings in the whole of the town! Records dating back as far as 1842 show that the farm was owned by a Mrs Maria Wellwood - a possible explanation for the pub's name today! Our traditional pub classics are expertly crafted from our seasonal menus and the bar is crammed with local ales and tipples to tempt any taste buds. Using the most seasonal ingredients and decadent flavours, there's a dish for every desire. Turn your fleeting visit into a welcomed stay by resting your head in one of our four comfortable family ensuite rooms. I visited the Avenue with my family for my birthday, we had the festive menu , the food was delicious . The staff are lovely and so friendly. Would recommend The Avenue 100%.

Lovely roast dinner only spoiled by being swamped with so much gravy it was spilling over the plate! But the meat was lovely. We did not realise that the football would be on screens everywhere in the pub - we probably would not have chosen to eat there if we had known but that is not reallly a criticism - we just didn’t know and are not fans
