Masuya Restaurant is located in a building, which has been designated as a cultural asset, on O’Connell Street in Sydney. This is the same place as the office of Kanematsu Gosho, the pioneer of Australia – Japan trades, was situated in 1980. Masuya Restaurant opened in 1993, then full renovation was implemented in 2006.The approx. five meters long sushi counter, designed by architect Robert Toland in ‘kabuki red’ with an idea of the stage of kabuki, has since fascinated not only local Australian customers but also various people with different backgrounds.A showcase displays more than 20 different sushi ingredients everyday including locally produced fish, which is purchased on the day. Other carefully selected ingredients are wagyu beef, free-range pork, and seasonal vegetables. It's hard to find hospitality staff like those who staff Clam Bar anymore. Top tier service and top tier food. A la carte menu is fantastic and their off-menu burger is one of the best I've had. Always a great experience.

Had a Group booking, so we had the deluxe banquet. The quality, taste and quantity of food was praised by my team and they catered well for the vegetarian in our group with personally presented plates of his own. Drink requests were pleasantly responded to quickly and the wine recommendation was well suited and right on budget to be enjoyed. Overall this is a terrific venue and several of the team have recommended ot their friends and family already.

We only tried the entrees, but they were all fantastic. Standouts were the tuna crudo with betel leaf, and the panko crumbed salmon hash cakes. I'm definitely going back again, just for the salmon hash cakes.

Awesome, the staff are fantastic and they always greet us ands remember us which is nice. The food is awesome and we keep coming back for more. This is out go-to neighborhood Japanese. Only wish the Sake was not so expensive.
