Rengaya has been serving YAKINIKU in North Sydney since 1993, making it one of Australia’s pioneering Japanese barbeque restaurants. Now, that tradition is set to continue at its new digs on Miller Street – just a short stroll from the original location – in a much more modern, striking setting. Masuya Restaurant is located in a building, which has been designated as a cultural asset, on O’Connell Street in Sydney. This is the same place as the office of Kanematsu Gosho, the pioneer of Australia – Japan trades, was situated in 1980. Overall - it was alright. sashimi was fresh and the sushi was somewhat authentic. However, it is deafening inside and waiters have a hard time paying attention to you. And for the price I paid, I think I can find a restaurant that is more authentic and of better quality. The sushi rice was clearly machine-made and it just didn't have the extra mile I expect from mid to high price range restaurants.

I recently dined at KUON SUSHI SEI and was blown away by the quality+service. Ingredients were incredibly fresh, but the real stars were the sushi rice and soy sauce. The rice, sourced directly from Japan, had a wonderful texture and subtle sweetness that perfectly balanced the fish. Their house-made soy sauce was the perfect umami bomb, enhancing each bite without being too salty. Combined with the impeccable service, KUON SUSHI SEI offers a truly exceptional Japanese dining experience.
