Manicomio Chelsea opened its doors in 2003. It is set on the buzzy Duke of York Square, set back from Sloane Square and the iconic Kings Road. Housed in a historic Grade II listed building that was formerly the Royal military asylum- the origin of Manicomio’s playful name (Italian for madhouse). Renowned for serving simple yet elegant Italian food in the attractive dining room, bar and – weather permitting- the expansive terrace. The adjoining Manicomio Café offers a pared-down version of the restaurant’s menu- available to enjoy in either the café, conservatory, courtyard or terrace or as take away. Amazing goose xmas dinner. The goose was cooked and served so that every bit was incredibly tasty and delicious, Nad before that an amazing mix of starters, pudding and clam times to follow.

This place is pretty discreetly located, but once you know, it is super easy to find, and is literally next door / under the tube station. Lovely and atmospheric, well renovated, food was ample and well presented, as was the beer and the wine. London prices. We would go again.
