We’re an independent wine merchant and tasting event company specialising in boutique, hand-crafted wines from small vineyards. At our bar, shop and events you will get the opportunity to taste highly sought after “small lot” wines, discover the classics and the unusual, learn a thing or two and maybe find a new favourite along the way. Our events are curated and tailored for you but are always governed by the simple philosophy that wine should be fun and approachable.
Manicomio Chelsea opened its doors in 2003. It is set on the buzzy Duke of York Square, set back from Sloane Square and the iconic Kings Road. Housed in a historic Grade II listed building that was formerly the Royal military asylum- the origin of Manicomio’s playful name (Italian for madhouse). Renowned for serving simple yet elegant Italian food in the attractive dining room, bar and – weather permitting- the expansive terrace. The adjoining Manicomio Café offers a pared-down version of the restaurant’s menu- available to enjoy in either the café, conservatory, courtyard or terrace or as take away. Manicomio’s enthusiastic passion for all things Italy- with a strong focus on provenance, quality and taste - has seen the Manicomio family grow to two more successful sites, each with their own identity- Manicomio in St Pauls and Canto Corvino in Spitalfields.
