Nestled in the heart of Ashtown Village, Dublin 15, overlooking the Royal Canal, The Lock Keeper can be found at Lock #10. Steeped in heritage, this double lock was constructed c.1792. With quality stonework and attractive sloping edges Lock 10 is one of 46 along the Royal Canal and continues to be a testament to the skill of the craftsmen involved. Our bar is adjacent to the Lock Keepers House, a post that became obsolete in 1961 when the canal was closed to traffic the previous year. The Royal Canal, which runs from the River Liffey to the River Shannon and stretches a distance of 145km, was originally built for freight and passenger transportation with the last working barges ceasing to operate in 1951.Now beautifully maintained by Irish Waterways, you are welcome to visit The Lock Keeper by canoeing, walking or cycling from Dublin City Centre.     We booked this after hearing great things from friends and I'm so glad we went. Brought my mam for a nice gal's evening and it did not disappoint. The atmosphere was great, lots of couples and families enjoying themselves. The bottomless garlic bread was gorgeous and did I mention bottomless?! I got the 7oz fillet cooked medium and it came cooked to perfection. Lovely sized portions and the pepper sauce was lovely too. The service was fantastic from start to finish - the waitstaff couldn't do enough for you and we didn't want for anything for the 90 mins we were there. Special mention goes to Jonathan who looked after our table and clearly loved his job. I also thought the price was extremely good for the heaps of food we got so I would definitely recommend and I will definitely go back. The profiteroles were lovely also!

    We had an amazing dinner at Host. We were greeted on arrival by Chloe who explained the menu to us. Staff were great!

    We booked a table for my nephews birthday, 9 of us attended. Had to wait until bang on 7 to get the table. Food was lovely. Garlic bread kept on coming. Everywhere you looked, there was garlic bread. Coeliac options were there aswell. I got the piri piri chicken, sauce on side was so spicy. My hubby got the striploin, well done. We shared. Would defo go back.
