Rengaya has been serving YAKINIKU in North Sydney since 1993, making it one of Australia’s pioneering Japanese barbeque restaurants. Now, that tradition is set to continue at its new digs on Miller Street – just a short stroll from the original location – in a much more modern, striking setting.
The new fit-out features bar-counter seats around an open kitchen, red booth seating divided by Japanese-style timber panelling and a hard-to-miss chandelier. There’s also a 20-seat private dining room.

Established in 2017 by Executive Chef, Thomas Cauquil and Brewery Director, Vincent De Soyres, Frenchies Bistro & Brewery specialises in creating food and drinks for friends, all in a relaxed, casual, and unique setting, where customers have the option to dine surrounded by brewing tanks.Leaning on fresh, local, seasonal produce, the duo create all of their products in-house, from smoked and cured meats and hand rolled pastas, to Frenchies' award-winning beers and spritzes.Thomas and Vince first met at Albert de Mun Hotel and Catering School in Paris in 2005. From there, Thomas went on to work at Michelin star restaurants including Le Violon d’Ingres* in Paris and El Chaflán in Madrid, meanwhile Vince set his sights on Australia, and moved from Ninkasi Brewery in Lyon to the Little Brewing Co. in Port Macquarie in 2010, followed by the Flat Rock Brew Café. Thomas joined Vince in Australia in 2013, and they transformed their dream into a reality with the opening of Frenchies.
