James St is the coming together of two of Belfast’s best restaurants, James Street South Restaurant and The Bar and Grill at James St. The new offering is the best of the Bar and Grill's menu with a few light touches to the fine cooking of James Street South.Classic dishes are firmly established on the menu from the crab and chilli linguine, Dundrum crab used on toast, alongside classic bistro dishes such as farmhouse terrine, fruit de mer plates available from Thursday. The charcoal grill still plays centre stage, cooking not just some of the best steaks and prime cuts Northern Ireland has to offer but also fresh whole fish, pork and vegetables.With a larger, more established bar area, a large range of wines are available alongside a considered spirit list and an extensive whisky offering. Ok, we do chicken, but our chicken is famous!Our local free-to-roam chicken is marinated for 24 hours in lemon, buttermilk, and paprika. It is then dry-rubbed, cooked and blast-chilled to keep it juicy and finally roasted on the spit. Ribs and wings are also available, as are a choice of sides and homemade desserts. It was great - the only downside was the toilets were go 4 flights of stairs… not ideal for my heavily pregnant sister in law or 76 year old mother. Lovely otherwise

Food was very very good and happy to recommend to all. Disappointed that despite booking a table for 8 well in advance we arrived and were put on two separate tables. Had this been stated when booking made I would have chosen an alternative venue that could accommodate all my team at one table.
