The late Rocco Diorio was responsible for the fine traditional food and many lasting memories for most of the people in the greater Waterbury area. The restaurant was closed in 1980 and reopened in 1991 after total restoration to its original splendor. The legend continues as we remain true to those endearing memories. We have the original marble bar, over-sized mahogany bankers booths, tin ceiling, and the most impressive acid-etched mirrors displaying historical Waterbury. We went out to dinner for my wife’s birthday. The waiter was very friendly, not phoney, very attentive without being annoying. Food was great. We ordered 3 apps and all outstanding. We all loved our meals. Only downside was they didn’t have the beer I was craving :)

This successor to Carole Peck's Good News Restaurant and Bar seems to be trying hard to meet the very high expectations for such a successor. Although the menu is no longer the same without Carole Peck, we had delicious food and left with the intent to return, as this had been our first choice for so many years. We shared the pate appetizer, which was nicely presented and delicious. Our main dishes were the Shrimp and Grits (on special) and the Wok-seared Shrimp (on the daily menu). Both were delicious, with wild shrimp, and the servings were generous. So happy to find high-quality ingredients, well-prepared, once again.
