The location spans 1,700 square feet, seats 50 inside and 20 people on the patio and will feature a California – Italian menu. Family owned and run Mua was one of the first restaurants to open in what was then Auto Row in Oakland, in 2008. After their first 2 restaurants, Pastoral in Berkeley (first opened in 1982 while still students, 37 in the architecture program at Cal and San-Ju painting at SFAI) then later Soizic (Jack London Square, 1996), they wanted to shift gears from heavily curated menus to more comfort-based fare catering more to the eclectic and artistic community in Oakland. Amazing food seating limited and loud restaurant; however, that can also shown to look to the quality of service and the deliciousness of the food served. Overall customer service was amazing and food was amazing. Not a big restaurant though.

This has got to be the best dining experience located in North Berkeley. I ordered the special dinner, which includes a choice of an appetizer, a main dish with basmati rice and a dessert. Great food and worth the value. I would definitely go back to Ajanta and try different things that I missed from ordering off of the menu.

This was my first experience with Smelly's. It was worth it. The food was great. I'd love to take a date there. I'd go back just for the mac n cheese and garlic green beans. The garlic noodles are awesome too. I love garlic 🧄

Hello! Food was great! Service was good! The only thing that was a problem for us was the TV over the bar. One couldn't help but look at it. Awful. We were unfortunately seated in the table area around the bar and the TV was unavoidable.
