Just a short walk from Haymarket train station, First Coast is a local, independent neighbourhood restaurant. Over the past 11 years we’ve built a strong reputation for serving top quality modern Scottish food at reasonable prices.
Named after a small village in Wester Ross, where the owner has fond memories of eating brilliant Scottish produce during his childhood holidays, First Coast’s menu has something for everyone. Fresh fish is delivered daily, we offer a good range of tasty vegetarian options, J Gilmour butchers supply us with quality Aberdeen Angus steak, and we also make our own haggis

    Both my wife and I really enjoyed our meal, you can eat pub chain venues etc but you can’t beat a going to a restaurant and eating well cooked fresh food. My wife had the home made Gnocchi excellent and I had the Ham hough terrine followed by the Cod fillet melt in the mouth. We shared the cheese board.

    Our First Coast experience is usually excellent all round but today's was a shade off that. I thought today's Christmas Lunch menu was disappointing for vegetarian dishes. That said, the food quality was very good and service and ambiance were excellent as usual. I'm sure when the non-festive menu returns, the vegetarian choices will be back to normal. It is still our restaurant of choice in Edinburgh.

    Food and service was very good. Very noisy party of diners spoilt the ambience. Toilets need attention to cleanliness.

    Great meal. Lovely ambience as we sat next to the fire. I had Coley and stir fried greens - honestly one of the tastiest lunches I have ever had. My husband had mussels and said they were 5 star. Highly recommend
