    Wonderful experience as always!!!! The holiday cocktails were fantastic and the food excellent. Our favorite holiday event to attend. The luminaries and dinner at the desert botanical gardens a perfect way to celebrate Christmas!!!!

    Gerturde's location at the Desert Botanical Gardens makes it a nice place to meet with friends before or after a visit to the Gardens or Zoo. It is especially, convenient during the nights of the Luminaries, like the night we met friends for dinner. Gurtrude's prides itself on being environmentally friendly with locally sourced and sustainable items. Unfortunately, this doesn't always lend itself to the tastiest food. The odor of fish from the next table is an example of serving seafood that is past its prime. We chose both the burger and the lamb enchiladas. The burger was excellent; cooked to order and served on a large (slightly too thick) Brioche bun. Unfortunately, the mole on the enchilada was so thick one could not discern that it was actually lamb. The flavor of the meat was completely covered. For dessert, we shared the peach cobbler. It very mushy and lacked texture but the flavor was delicious. The wine list needs some work It is limited and very Arizona heavy which is not a bad thing except for the fact that wine from Arizona is very often a different flavor profile than the varietal of grape being used. If they are going to so heavily feature Arizona wines they might consider offering a small tasting prior to opening a bottle giving the patron a chance to expand the palette without purchasing a bottle they will not enjoy.

    Always a great experience from the food to the service. It's a delightful To attend Gertrudes for meal and then tour the gardens.
