Giovanni's Trattu may be the only restaurant in DC to capture the feel of Venice. Formerly known as Trattu, this cozy little restaurant provides the lighter cuisine of Northern Italy, which is known for its unique flavor. The extensive menu changes every fall, winter and summer. Seating 60 in the main dining room, Giovanni's Trattu is candlelight at night and it entertains guests with friendly style of service, providing classic Italian music. Highlighting the ambiance is a collection of colorful pottery and venetian masks that hangs from the walls. Giovanni's Trattu is ideal for private parties, business lunches and dinners, romantic dates and family celebrations.

Absolutely delicious! We had the Salad Romano (Cesar) and the dressing is wonderful! My husband had the farfalle with salmon in a vodka sauce and I had the linguine with vongole. Both delicious! Everything tasted homemade. We'd return in a flash! Wonderful service too. :)

This was such a great find. One of the best Italian restaurants that I have been to in years. Food, service, ambiance - EXCEPTIONAL. Great location and small with a so much attention to every detail.

The food was great as always, but the establishment really needs to address the condition of their restrooms. The men’s restroom is in horrible shape.

Great ambiance and service was excellent! Food was good not great. I would return and try something else though. I had the chicken Marsala and garlic bread.

So glad they resumes lunch, because this was my go-to place for lunch pre-COVID. Both Lunch and Dinner are great value for the quality of food and service.

Giovanni’s Trattu blew us away with its fantastic food and amazing service. We kicked off our meal with the fried mozzarella, and it was the perfect blend of crunchy and cheesy goodness. The insalata Romana was so fresh and had just the right amount of dressing. Our main dishes—fettuccine Alfredo and chicken parmigiana—were absolutely delicious. The Alfredo sauce was indulgent and creamy, while the chicken parm was crispy on the outside and tender inside, with a lovely marinara and cheese topping. The staff were incredible—kind, helpful, and made the entire experience even more special. And then came the tiramisu! Without a doubt, one of the best I’ve ever tasted. This is definitely a must-visit spot for anyone who loves great Italian food!
