A fun place to eat...a speakeasy. Non descript from the front, you wouldn't know it to be a restaurant from the outside. But once you get through the foyer, a long room opens where you might expect to see Pretty Boy Floyd or Bonnie and Clyde drinking bootleg whiskey. Food was great, Drinks and service were better. Plenty of long tables for large groups, a patio area (but too cold). Try it, you will love it!

Our server was inattentive throughout or visit. Also, we had to wait in the vestibule for about 15 minutes, we were on time for our reservation before the hostess came out to seat us. This left us wondering if we were in the right place or maybe there was another point of entry. It might help if there was a way to alert the hostess that guests are waiting. Regardless, when you have a reservation the hostess should know to expect guests. Otherwise the food was excellent, the drinks menu has a very impressive variety. Wine was not over-priced. Overall the menu prices were very reasonable.

We made a reservation for my gf’s bday and when we get there they tell us the kitchen closes it 15 minutes…it also took them 10 minutes to even acknowledge us and put down menus. We also had to ask for silverware. This is by far the worst place ive made reservations for and i only did so because my friend works here. I know she would’ve given us exceptional service but everyone else was so lackluster and subpar. It was a terrible experience with terrible service. The food was amazing but the drinks were awful. I cant believe i spent $200 on this place. It was definitely not worth it. I will only ever come back for the food but never to celebrate anything or drink here.

Fun entryway and crafty cocktails. Not everyone in my party was satisfied with their drink choices nor their meals. I had the vegetarian pot pie and it was hearty and delicious. The popcorn was really good. The Foamy Negroni was perfect! I highly recommend asking your server about the crafty cocktails so you can order something that tastes good to you. Or at least Google the ingredients you aren't familiar with, as some in my party were disappointed with their choices.

G&S was one of our favorites but our last two visits were less than mediocre. This time, they were out of 3 entrees and what we ordered was not worth the value; the cocktails were inferior; the service was inconsistent lacking follow through and attention to detail. The atmosphere is special and appealing. It’s the best part of the experience but not enough to keep us coming back.

One of our favorite Richmond haunts! Always a fun wait staff and always a delicious meal. We had the cheese board and crab dip to start with fun libations and I had the catfish and others raved about the meat loaf, crab cakes and shrimp and grits. Dessert included the choc tort and bread pudding. Both were fabulous but my favorite is the bread pudding! It really was a wonderful evening, and we were very spoiled by our wait staff and others that assisted. We enjoyed some down time after the chaos of the holidays, and we loved being able to reconnect with our dear friends. Looking forward to seeing you all again. Susan & Leland

Fun environment, excellent food and service. For apps, we had crab dip, brie, and duck drummies. For dinner, our table had the pork shank, meatloaf, vegetarian pot pie, shrimp andouille, catfish and red snapper. The crab dip stood out as the best app and the pork shank and meatloaf were the best meals. Everything was good but those were the highlights.

Waiter had an attitude from the start kept rushing us the entire time. Ordered the chicken Marsala the chicken was dry as a saltine cracker and tasted of straight raw garlic. I have been here a number of times and the waiters negative attitude will be the reason I don’t return.

The hostess wasn’t kind and inviting, having never been there before we were confused when she asked us for the password and when was angry and dismissive when we did not have it. Our waitress however was so sweet and attentive and wonderful. She was so lovely and wonderful to talk to. She made the evening wonderful.
