Just as 18th century taverns served as the epicenter of the communities they served, so too does the Green Dragon Tavern & Museum in Carlsbad offer a warm, family-owned gathering place today for San Diego friends and neighbors of all ages. The welcoming atmosphere is surpassed only by the highly acclaimed and award winning menu. Each dish is curated by with a focus on seasonal, locally sourced and sustainable ingredients. Craft cocktails, wines and 20 rotating local beers on tap pair perfectly with our savory fare. Our guests rave about our Maine lobster rolls, Shepherd's Pie, hand-tossed pizzas, fresh seafood, and braised short rib to name a few.

I’ve only had the beet salad there as I eat a plant based diet and that is my only healthy option. It could be massively improved if they would use fresh beets instead of canned. My wife ordered the steak frites well done. They came medium rare. She sent them back and got shoe leather. She said it was the worst meal she’s ever had. Which is a pretty low bar since we travel and dine all over the world. Staff was awesome. Friendly and fast. Probably won’t be back.

What a great place, 1st time there and will definitely be back! Menu was fairly extensive, Beer List was very good. As for what we ordered, I did like the Brussel Sprouts appetizer but it was heavily sauced, could have used 1/2 the sauce and still been good, also the ration of leaves to the "sprouts" was a little slanted on the leaves side. Our friends all loved the lobster rolls, Turkey Pot Pie, and the Seafood trio. I certainly enjoyed the shephards pie - nice quantity. Waiter was a little distracted but we pushed through it. Great Place, Highly recommend it!

The museum was very interesting. Early American theme. If you have reservations get there early so you can walk through the museum before you eat. Food was excellent. I had the cod, and it was nicely prepared. Portions are generous.

The Green Dragon is one of our favorite restaurant. However this visit was very disappointing. For a change, I ordered fish and chips. The fish was overbreaded and dripping grease (oil). What I would expect from a fast food place, not a better place. Also I ordered a cup of decaf coffee. It was served lukewarm. When I pointed that out to the server, she said she would bring me another cup. After about seven minutes, she came to tell me that they were out of decaf. I agreed to a regular cup. Again it was lukewarm. When I questioned why they could not serve a hot cup, she apologized and brought me another cup, also lukewarm. I gave up and was surprised that she charged me $4 anyway.

The ambience was comfortable, the tables spaced enough that you were not listening to adjoining tables conversations. The food was good, hot when brought to the table and service was prompt and good.

Highly recommend! We had an amazing meal with the most wonderful customer service experience as soon as we walked in the door. Had the mussels and cod and both were absolutely delicious. Can't wait to have another meal there soon! Thank you to the Green Dragon team!

For our 2nd time dining experience, I brought along a group of friends and family. Everyone absolutely loved the food, the generous portions, the excellent service, and the charming atmosphere. The museum was also a big hit, adding a unique historical touch to our visit. The spacious parking lot made the experience even more convenient. We're all already planning to return for another lunch date—or maybe even a dinner experience to enjoy its beauty at night. This place never disappoints! Highly recommend it to anyone looking for great food, history, and a welcoming environment.

The food tasted good but was served barely warm. The coffee tasted like instant. Our server was very slow and took forever to refill the coffee once and got the charges wrong on the credit cards. He seemed uninterested in creating a nice experience.
