Hunter's Head Tavern is the Piedmont’s only farm-owned gastropub and a proud Three-Star Certified Green Restaurant. Specializing in sustainable, humanely raised fare, the menu features beef, pork, poultry, and eggs from Ayrshire Farm, the restaurant’s own Certified Humane® and Organic farm located just down the road. Tucked in a restored 18th-century building, Hunter's Head redefines the classic public house experience, with cozy dining rooms, exquisite wine and cocktails, and Hunt-Country chic patios where dogs are always welcome.

Cancellation Policy: Parties of (6) or more are asked to leave a credit card on file, at time of reservation. Reservations cancelled with less than 24 hours notice, will be subject to a 30% charge of the total estimated bill. A gift card reflecting the 30% charge will be issued to the guest at time of cancellation, and made available for pick up on a mutually agreeable date at Hunters Head Tavern.

This restaurant takes you back - it has the look and feel of an old style American tavern; what I imagine might have been there in the late 1800s, but with modern conveniences. Highly recommended!

We’ve been coming to this tavern for many years and in the last couple we’ve decided that the food is very good as is the atmosphere, particularly indoors. If one enjoys the atmosphere of an old English pub or an historic tavern you will be happy and the experience is nice. The outdoor seating is where most of my criticism lies… teak tables have needed refurbishment for years, the tent needs cleaning and there have been no attempts to add very minor touches which would be cheap but would add the appearance that there is actually attention to detail. I offer these low cost suggestions… a simple small vase with flowers on each table to enhance the look of the well-worn tables teak, an occasional plant around the outdoor seating area, some minor cleanup and better grooming of the grounds entering the tavern… all low cost but demonstrating effort. Overall we return because of the uniqueness and history of the tavern and its pub fare and English style.

Chicken pot pie was really potato pot pie.. it was all a bit average.. fish and chips ok, green tomatoes ok; however ambience is good.

We have been here several times but noticed a big increase in price this time (appetizers $15 salads/sandwiches $24) not good value at all. Our lunch was also quite unpleasant due to the number of flies, with no obvious attempts to deal with the problem.

Fabulous!!! This place is wonderful and worth the drive. The building is historic and beautiful plus they have a lovely tented patio. Now for the food. Highly recommend the fish and chips and also the chicken pot pie. Both were delicious. Maybe even best ever. Pot pie was flaky top crust with creamy chicken and veggies inside had nice hint of curry spice. Fish was done perfectly! Crispy outside and flaky and juicy fish. And came with the traditional British mushy peas! Yummy. Cant wait to go back. Will probably order those same entrees because they were that good.
