Tucked away in a brownstone on the Upper West Side, La Boite en Bois has been a favorite among diners since 1985. Family owned and operated, our attentive and well-trained staff will be sure to provide you with a memorable experience. As seen on Seinfeld, we are a short walk from Central Park, Lincoln Center, NYC Ballet, and the Metropolitan Opera.

With its rustic ambiance, diners are made to feel as though they are in a bistro in the French countryside. Serving classics from Escargot to Salmon to Roasted Duck to Mussels, you will be delighted with our extensive selections. We serve lunch everyday, with a variety of salads, soups, panini, and classic French dishes, such as Croque Monsieur, Seafood Crepes and Onion Soup. Come Saturday and Sunday for our Brunch, and enjoy Eggs Benedict, French Toast or a La Boite Burger.

There were five of us. Three disliked their meals. A special was inedible. The roast chicken dry. Onion soup burnt tasting. Not going back.

Our Valentine’s day dinner at La Boite en Bois was amazing! Fantastic food, ambiance, and service! We had such a delicious 3 course dinner, and amazing wine and cappuccinos! Would definitely recommend for a special occasion or date night!

Fabulous quiet Old world feel in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the area. Food and wine was fantastic and classically French.

Went for lunch/ brunch on a Sunday. Among the tightest seating we have encountered on the UWS. Could not get in or out of a wall seat without moving the entire table. That was the bad. The good - great food, punctual service, very French. The atmosphere was quaint and rustic - is is a basement restaurant but felt very warm and inviting. Recommend not sitting by the door on a cold day. Even with a second door at street level, that cold air is a shock. Would return for pre-theater at Lincoln Square. Value is average for the money. Did not try the wines, but seemed to have a nice selection.

Food was delicious - glad we discovered this neighborhood place. It is a tight fit but well worth it to have a wonderful dinner. Don’t skip dessert!
