Named after probably Broadstairs's most famous previous resident, The Charles Dickens pub and dining rooms in Broadstairs had a complete refurbishment and re opened in the summer of 2012. This is one of the largest pubs in Broadstairs, with the main bar downstairs and the dining room and bars upstairs commanding excellent views of Viking Bay. The Captain Digby, a family friendly restaurant and bar which caters for all ages & occasions, with sea views overlooking Kingsgate Bay. We serve generously portioned fresh, home cooked food from our bar, restaurant & children's menu. Food is served from 12 noon each day, all day until late check our operating hours before arrival.Choose from our family dining area, close to our indoor play area or our cliff top restaurant with sea views. Alfresco dining is available with 40 benches overlooking the bay but these are non-reservable and work on a first come first served basis. Please note we can not guarantee window tables. We do not allow dogs inside our venue but they are welcome in our outside dining areas. Being so close to the shoreline we tend to have issues regarding internet connections and advise all customers also bring cash as an alternative payment.

This is a wonderful little place with sea views, generous portions and lovely food. We had worked up an appetite walking from Margate and had the chicken sharing roast. Really delicious with gorgeous cauliflower cheese. Staff were friendly and efficient. Would recommend and definitely plan on returning.

Absolutely outstanding food and wines. We never fail to have an amazing evening here. We love the counter seating for great chats with the owner, highly recommend the chat! All the food was amazing but stand outs this time was the Pomme Anna, stuffed pepper and pork chop.
