Oma's Hideaway is a vibrant, maximalist restaurant inspired by the life and spirit of Chef Thomas Pisha Duffly's grandmother, Kiong Tien “Tina” Vandenberg. Her ability to adapt, to make the most out of limited resources, and to stay creative while projecting warmth and brightness is the guiding force behind Oma’s Hideaway.Born during the pandemic as a pop-up in the Gado Gado parking lot, Oma’s became a permanent beacon of iridescent light in Portland’s Richmond neighborhood in 2021. The menu draws from Tina’s life story, taking influence from the craveable, soul-satisfying hawker food of Singapore and Malaysia and “turning up the volume” with exaggerated yet balanced flavors in Chef Tom’s signature style. The curry fries blew my mind, and I was very excited to find the same pickled serrano peppers again on the wonton mee, as they made every bite they touched delightful. We'll definitely be back, and can't wait to try even more items!

Great meal again! Love this place. It's my Go-To when in the area. Great selection of dishes, drinks. Love the layout, ambience. Service from Megan R was awesome! She really did a great job of taking care of us! The food was really good, my cobb salad was great! Keep up the great work!

What a terrific spot! It was our first time dining here but it most definitely will not be our last! The vibe is cool/hip but totally welcoming—good tunes playing and comfy banquette seating. And the food was outstanding: chewy sourdough with a spicy tapenade, fried brussel sprouts, roasted winter squash with pepper jelly, fried boar ribs with a Calabrian chile kick, seared octopus—every bite was a winner. And then: the Basque cheesecake. Zowie.
