Callenders is a modern , casual style dining bistro. From a romantic meal for two, to a celebration dinner for forty. The best of local produce cooked to order for you. The surroundings are relaxed and easy going. Large potted plants occupy the free spaces and original water-colours by local artists hang on the walls. Table tops are bare and minimalist set with condiments, cutlery and fresh cut flower stems. Old dishes make a fresh return, and modern classics like Thai-Style Chicken sit comfortably along-side Braised Beef Cheeks with roast potatoes and gravy.Steaks are good too and a full Char-grill section on the menu features locally shot Venison and a selection of beef cuts; T bone, Fillet and Sirloin. As you would expect all desserts and pastries are made in house, with a definite focus on classic British desserts, steamed Treacle Sponge, Crème Brule, Apple Tart, Queen of Puddings and a really beautiful creamed rice dessert served with a mango sorbet are often on the menu.

We are a country Gastropub owned by farmers. Our farm supplies the beef, lamb and pork and we source other ingredients from local producers where we can. Our small seasonal menu changes regularly reflecting what is available in our area. We pride ourselves on being very much a country pub, offering freshly prepared seasonal food and a warm welcome. We also love offering locally produced drinks, such as gins, rums, ales and wines, giving you the complete taste of Sussex. Our weekend menu is our delicious Asado Grill. I think this was our fifth meal at the Sundial - this time with a party of six - and it was as wonderful as ever. Three hours of being cosseted with great service and first rate food. The Sundial is reliably excellent.

Went with my family to celebrate a special birthday. Food was suitable for all members of the family with different dietary requirements including vegan. Everyone found items to enjoy and staff were attentive and helpful. The atmosphere was relaxing and we also enjoyed the cocktails (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic). We really enjoy our family celebration. I will defintely visit again.

Lovely atmosphere and decor, and occupies a great spot on the seafront with fab views. Staff were friendly, smiling and attentive from the moment we entered. The food was really fresh and tasty, obviously using quality ingredients but not too expensive and really generous in portion size! Plenty of vegetarian and vegan options, and lots on the menu that is different to the usual Eastbourne offering. My mum and I will definitely be regular visitors and are looking forward to coming back to try the cocktails!

Late Sunday afternoon lunch for four. Very efficient and friendly waiter. Excellent value for all roast’s and puddings. We and our friends, who live locally, would happily recommend this restaurant.
