“Tankuma” was born on the banks of the Takase River in Kyoto, famous for “Takase Fune” at the beginning of Showa period. Takasegawa-suji is a place where Ikushu restaurants serving seasonal river fish were lined up in the Edo period, but our “Tankuma” has been working hard since then. After the war, we continued to make steady progress with the support of Ryosensen, Junichiro Tanizaki, Isao Yoshii, and other literary artists.     Excellent meal by Chef Dan. The course was the perfect size with excellent food choices. It is not super traditional if you are looking for that. It was more lively and relaxed. The room was tidy but lacked a high end ambience if that is what you are looking for. We were lucky enough to have another party book the Geisha experience with dinner. She danced, sang, and played games with us. Overall, a high point for us in Kyoto and an experience we will remember!

    The food choices were great, the service not so much. Although our server was polite he was untrained. The service failed to meet the value for the product. But the steak was excellent and my seasoned charred vegetables was too!
