Inspired by Italy’s aperitivo hour, when public squares and streets are filled with lively conversation, Portico serves handmade and authentic Italian fare in Sebastopol in western Sonoma County.A portico is a colonnade or covered walkway in classical architecture. Since the middle ages the elegant porticos of Bologna, Italy have a meeting place for the public as well as a place for business. Paolo Pedrinazzi (who is from Bologna) and Kat Escamilla, owners of the new Portico trattoria , bring this experience to Sebastopol. They even have monthly Regional dinner parties with live jazz.The setting includes an Italian fountain on their cozy patio. Portico offers light table service and counter ordering. Excellent Italian wines are sold in the restaurant at retail pricing; refreshingly unpretentious. The menu features an array of antipasti, handmade egg pasta, gluten free risottos, Bolognese lasagna, tiramisu, and baked goods . A market in the front is stocked with take-n-bake entrees

Koshō Restaurant at The Barlow is a modern Japanese and sushi restaurant in Sebastopol with a progressive focus on food, local ingredients, and sustainability. Koshō derives its moniker from the condiment of the same name, Yuzu Koshō.     The new interior is beautiful and I loved being in a booth. We were expecting more seafood but the tuna Niçoise salad was delicious and my friend said the calamari was okay and her green salad had very plain dressing which is exactly what I liked about my salad. So I would have to say try it for yourself. If you’re in the area it’s worth a try.

    The best sushi in the Northbay! Great Barlow location; parking is often a problem on weekends,- park on Morris St and come in from the back! Best plates: Machi Bon, Ahi tacos, red dragon and salmon citrus rolls; the sashimi 16 pc dinner is incredible! Be sure to get the mushroom miso, too!
