De ontspannen sfeer, mooie interieur en de uitstekende bediening vallen snel op. Nooit eerder heb ik een Engelse mousserende wijn gedronken en het was verrassend lekken. We waren met z'n drien en hebben drie gerechtjes per persoon genomen. Het was gezellig en lekker. Ik kom hier zeker terug wanneer ik weer in Edinburgh ben.

We hadden de bottemless brunch menu. Er was redelijk wat keuze en de service was super. Regelmatige vraag of er nog iets nieuws moest zijn voor te drinken. Nadien nog dessert (ijs) genomen, deze was wel al deels gesmolten. Het café zelf had niet echt de " typische" hardrock sfeer die je ergens anders tegenkomt. De muziek was er wel, en het EK stond op wat het fijn maakte. Mooie, moderne locatie!

Hawksmoor Wood Wharf is housed in an eco-friendly floating pavilion in a new riverside neighbourhood in Canary Wharf. Fantastische ingang om achter een boekenkast te moeten afdalen naar het echte restaurant. Heel vriendelijke bediening met hier en daar een wat meer theatrale en leuke reveal van het eten. Hoewel het eten erg lekker is, is de keuze vrij standaard: biefstuk, burgers… Maar dan met een hoger prijskaartje. Al lost de sfeer dat wel grotendeels in. Jammer dat er maar 2 (!) andere tafels bezet waren in een verder leeg restaurant, wat me doet denken dat (nog) niet iedereen dit kent, maar om dan toch nog live muziek te spelen is wel top!

Het eten was oprecht heel lekker. We hadden de broccoli, asperges en aardappels en ik zou alledrie de gerechten aanraden. Vooral in combinatie met de sausjes was het echt heerlijk. Wel vond ik het erg duur. Voor de drie gerechten + 1 wijntje p.p. en een flesje water was ik ruim €115 kwijt. Ook lag het tempo te hoog, ik heb bij het dessert zelf maar aangegeven dat ik graag nog even wilde wachten, anders waren we in minder dan een uur helemaal klaar geweest. Ook zou ik qua klantvriendelijkheid iets meer verwachten. De meiden die er stonden waren vriendelijk en deden hun werk goed, maar toonden bijv geen interesse in of het gesmaakt heeft. Het eten was dus echt heel erg lekker en een aanrader, maar ik zou er omwille van de kosten niet naar teruggaan.
