Since 1919, Mario’s Restaurant, a landmark located in the heart of the “real Little Italy” of the Bronx, Arthur Avenue, has been serving robust, authentic Neapolitan fare for five generations. Recipient of Americas Regional Classics 2000 James Beard Restaurant Award, all the food is made to order, prepared by Executive Chef Massimo, using only the purest, freshest highest quality ingredients. Mario's has come full circle, originally founded by a woman, Scolastica Migliucci and now run by her great-great granddaughter Regina Migliucci-Delfino. You will be greeted like family when you walk through the door and our knowledgeable wait staff will graciously help you through our extensive menu, daily specials and our award winning dishes. The restaurant is lovely with an old school classic Italian charm. However, our reservation was for 4:30 PM on a Tuesday (7 people) and it took 20 mins for drinks, over 40 mins for our appetizers ((1) order of meatballs and (1) order of calamari) and 30 more mins after that, we received our entrees. Calamari was overcooked and could use more flavor. Meatballs were wonderful. Some entrees were better than other but the overall consensus was that the quality wasn’t really worth the wait nor the price. Our server was nice but didn’t have a sense of urgency when we kept asking about our food. I really wanted to love it and was looking forward to the experience but unfortunately, this place fell short.

It's all about the experience. One of the oldest institutions in the Belmont area of the Bronx. Gotta be able to say.yeah, Arthur ave in the Bronx...I was there..check out all the stores and Arthur ave Market right next door

Big decline in overall experience from other visits to Arthur Ave. very touristy experience including a cheesy photographer asking too take our photo and a tablet reading singer. Chicken scarpiello had only mushrooms and very lemony. No potatoes or sausage and basically disappointing. Salad was overdressed and ice cold from a refrigerator. The pork chop was undercooked and also disappointing.

Great restaurant in my old neighborhood. Have never been disappointed. Staff and service are excellent. Valet parking makes life easy.

We arrived at Mario’s a half hour early for our reservation and they were able to accommodate us. We had an excellent meal from start to finish. Waiter was very knowledgeable - he was very helpful as one person in our party has a gluten intolerance. The calamari and asparagus appetizers were excellent as were the fish special (Chilean sea bass), the pumpkin gnocchi (another special), the zuppa di pesce, and the gamberetti fra diavolo. Would definitely return!

The food is as wonderful as ever. The service was disappointing this time around. The people serving water, etc were good but the waitress was aloof, disinterested, and inattentive. All the staff seemed new to me.
