Led by chef and owner Hector Diaz, Modesto features a farm to table approach to upscale wood-fired Italian. The menu changes twice daily and includes a variety of fresh seafood, fine meats, and house made pastas. Pizzas are hand-tossed and cooked in a wood fired oven made in Italy. To compliment your meal, our bar offers over 30 exclusively Italian wines as well as a dynamic list of classic and cutting edge cocktails. Desserts are made from scratch, including our famous tiramisu, and we proudly serve SRO Coffee.

    We all thoroughly enjoyed our dinner - everything was delicious . Although not a cheap place to eat not crazy expensive either and many affordable options and excellent wine choices. Flavors combinations were interesting and different exceeding expectations. My friend said her tomato soup was the “best she ever had”!? My husband’s crab entrusted red snapper was extraordinary - and the truffle infused crostini wowed!

    We visit Asheville every year and have been to Modesto several times. I hate to say that this experience was quite disappointing. Let me begin by saying that the service was wonderful as always. Let me also say that when I step into an Italian restaurant, I do not want to be accosted by the smell of seafood. If you love seafood, then this is the place to go because the menu seemed very seafood heavy. When we go to Italian, we are going for pasta dishes with rich sauces. I got the Bolognese, and while I like my vegetables, the random hodge-page of vegetables in the dish were a bit much. My husband got the Parmesan chicken. It also had random vegetables thrown into it. The sauce on the chicken was rich, but the one on the pasta was watery. Sometimes it’s best to just leave successful dishes (that we have had there before) well enough alone.

    We enjoy Modesto every time we go! The intimate dining room is always filled with laughter and delicious smells. My husband loves the Old Fashioned here, and it’s one of the few we’ve found in Asheville that’s made perfectly. The Prosecco was not too sweet and was pleasantly dry. We enjoyed the crab cakes for our appetizer, as per usual, and the pickled veggies that come with it are so delicious I could eat an entire bowl. We ordered the veal chops and seafood carbonara (my personal comfort go-to). The portions are extremely generous and everything is delicious. The textures of the seafood here are always spot on! We finished off the evening with a chocolate pistachio torte that was buttery, smooth, and decadent. I wish I could remember our waitress’s name because she was STELLAR. Even though we were the latest reservation of the night, she met us with enthusiasm and kindness. She was extremely attention and I would be ecstatic to be seated in her section anywhere, any time. Cheers to another wonderful experience at one of our favorite local spots!

    We had an incredible experience. We arrived early and the staff welcomed us and made sure we were seated. Food was excellent, highly recommended.

    Our lunch was delicious. One of the best Caesar salads ever. Love the bread! Entree , eggplant Parmesan, was excellent. This was my third trip to Modesto and will continue to go back.

    FANTASTIC EVERYTHING! This was our first visit and we can’t wait to go back. The food was exceptional and only surpassed by the service. We could not have asked for a better experience. And it was Valentine’s Day! Thank you so much!!!!

    Jo, our waitress/bartender took such good care of us. And then Hector, chef/owner made food that was so high caliber ... what a treat!!! Love this place.

    Excellent service, delicious meal, cozy and delightful ambiance. The margarita pizza was outstanding, the caesar salad, the bolognese, and the tiramisu were all big hits with my group.
