Kobo is the workshop for Hatted Chef, Jacob Lee, a space for him to demonstrate his love for his homeland of Korea, re-engineering regional dishes onto a contemporary platform, incorporating Japanese and Australian influences for a dining experience like no other.
A solid marble chef’s table is front and centre, seating 8 guests at a time for an intimate chef's table (meaning “I leave it up to you.”), Chef Jacob breaks the menu down into “Episodes” with each episode featuring a core focus on a culinary moment of his life.
Kobo is located in Sydney's new Quay Quarter Lanes, a short walk from Circular Quay station, nestled just behind the historic Hinchcliffe House.

Tapavino - Circular Quay

A celebration of Sherry, Wine, Tapas, & Friends. Influenced by the culture of sip-a-little-bit-of-this-and-eat-a-little-bit-of-that, Tapavino began in August 2012 as Australia’s first Sherry Bar in Sydney, in a little lane-way not unlike something you would find in the cobblestoned alleyways of Spain. Helped by the beautiful warm vibe that greets you as you step inside and take a seat among floor-to-ceiling wine bottles, Tapavino was named runner-up in Sydney Morning Herald's 'Best New Bar' Awards within 4-months of opening. 12-months later we were named 'Best Bar with Food'.

Chat Thai - Circular Quay

Chat Thai became an instant smash hit in 1989 when it opened its first restaurant with plenty of heat and authentic Thai dishes. We've since added restaurants in Circular Quay, Westfield Sydney, Neutral Bay, Chatswood and Galeries Victoria, and in 2015 we added organic, fresh produce from our farm in Byron Bay. One of the best dining experiences I’ve had in Sydney in a LONG time; every meal was delicious, ambience was super cool & a little mysterious, staff very friendly & knowledgeable. Run don’t walk!

Outstanding as always, everyone in our group always orders the Shogun Bento for our annual end of year lunch. The quality of food and the service are both fantastic in this underground hidden gem.

Staff were fantastic, they were attentive and informative. Venue is niche and great for catch ups, date night etc. Bit pricey but you’re in the CBD so that’s to be expected. What to expect: friendly knowledgeable staff, tasty food, good vibes, great music and a second to none location. What not to expect: great value for money, beers or a bad time. 8/10
