    We dined for NYE. The restaurant is beautiful, situated on a corner with deep blue walls and minimalist wood decor. Our servers were attentive and delightful. The dishes were hit or miss for our group. The salad was delicious, flavorful, and complex. It was the perfect balance of bitter from the dressing and baby romaine, umami from the turnip, and pops of sweet from the yuzu and citrus. The bread and the dessert were outstanding. Our favorite of the mains was the lobster - specifically the claw meat. The duck and the swordfish were fine. The kimchi in the swordfish was interesting and not my favorite addition. The swordfish itself was exceptionally well executed. Most of the other dishes needed more salt - especially our pasta dish. All-in-all, a good experience. We were glad to have visited.

    We went for the prefix Christmas Eve dinner which was $125 pp. The salad course was bitter greens such as radicchio and chicory. It was too bitter and salty and we weren’t the only table that didn’t eat it. A mix with other salad greens would have been better. The spaghetti was delicious but the beef pillows were an $18 up charge so that left little choice. Again, good but not great. There were only two main courses since the steak wasn’t available which left pork tenderloin or black cod. Both were pretty uninteresting. Overall, good but not great for the price.

    The food quality at Octavia is very high. The chefs really know what they’re doing. We had a pre-fixe menu for Christmas Eve dinner and they accommodated dietary restrictions with advanced notice. They actually called a few days in advance of the reservation to confirm the dietary restrictions which was really nice. We had 9 courses I think and they were all delicious. My favorites were the soup and the pasta dishes. The service was also very good, the servers were very attending and accommodating. There was one dish I didn’t eat much of because it had radicchio in it which I don’t like, and our server offered to have the kitchen make me a replacement dish with a different lettuce instead. The only negative of Octavia is that it feels very cramped. The space is small and they squeeze in a lot of tables so you’re sitting basically on top of other diners and it’s a little awkward. Everything else was great though. I would definitely recommend Octavia as a good place for special occasions or bringing out of town visitors.

    The service is fantastic and I love the people. I think the food was very good but I didn’t understand the pallet. Overall very happy though because the service was so amazing!

    Honestly was just not a fan of the food. Service was fine aside from the host who was way too casual for such an upscale restaurant. However, they did forget a beverage order. Value was great with large portions but main courses either lacked flavor or were very unbalanced. Dessert course was a highlight and helped end on a better note.
