One if by Land, Two if by Sea has been recognized for its classic menu, long history, and beautiful decor. It is often cited as the most romantic restaurant in New York City. The decor features candlelit tables, brick fireplaces, a baby grand piano and a private garden.

The restaurant operates inside a historic, land-marked carriage house built in 1767.

Established in 1973, One if by Land, Two if by Sea soon became the go to spot in NYC for engagements, anniversaries, weddings and just a night out for quiet dinner.

Unfortunately, I was disappointed. I had the beef Wellington and it tasted “old”. Would definitely be willing to give this another try, but for the price was expecting better.

Lovely romantic atmosphere. Excellent surroundings and very romantic. The prixe fixe menu looked like a wonderful idea. The starters are very nice as was the dessert course. The rack of lamb was perfectly prepared and the presentation looked wonderful but was served barely warm.

Excellent meal! An extravagant meal, but a great place for a romantic date if you want to splurge. Our server was also extremely knowledgeable & friendly

Highly, highly recommend this restaurant for a romantic evening out in NYC. My fiancé & I were celebrating our engagement & the staff was so gracious & kind in helping us make this an unforgettable evening. Food & service are impeccable combined with the ambiance & atmosphere (the Christmas decor is absolutely beautiful!). Also is pretty cool that Aaron Burr once lived here!

It is indeed one of the best romantic set up I ever seen. Something deeply made arranged take you back to fairly style kind of night. Food was okay not my kind of food and expectation.

Disappointing, especially given price. Inattentive, slow service; nothing special about food. Was a holiday with prefix menu so perhaps we that was a factor, but won’t return.
