Our Story The goal – to guarantee a wonderful meal with authentic cuisine and fabulous margaritas, serve over 50 artisanal and ancestral mezcals, and over 100 different types of tequila brands in a vibrant unique atmosphere that boasts excellent service. Ruta Oaxaca Mexican Cuisine opened in Astoria in 2021 with such a wonderful and successful home run that a second location opened in Patchogue in March 2022. Ruta Oaxaca means “Road to Oaxaca,” a historic state in the southern part of Mexico. Mr. Castillo and his Partners are keenly focused on honoring Oaxacan culinary traditions, whose fame is derived in great part from its many varieties of moles. Established in 2003, we started as a small cafe and bar with great coffee, snacks, and pizzas. People loved spending time in the café enjoying our frappes or conversing with our friendly staff, so we decided an expansion was in order. In 2006 the first expansion began until our current completed renovation in 2019. We're still serving great coffee, cocktails, and pizza, and have our selection of fresh dishes to choose from that is currently in the works of expanding when our kitchen's renovation reaches its final completion. To start our waitress was amazing. She was very pleasant, attentive and quick. The tacos were subpar. I personally feel like they tried to do too much fancy stuff with the tacos instead of keeping it basic. The drinks were on point and the ambiance was beautiful
