Park Tavern on Washington Square has long been a vibrant staple and foundation of the North Beach community. Now, under the helm of renowned American chef-partner Jonathan Waxman and fifth-generation San Franciscan James Nicholas, Park Tavern on Washington Square celebrates San Francisco’s vibrant dining scene with a fresh new era. The restaurant has several private dining options available for groups and parties. As a Bay Area native and one of the pioneers of “California cuisine” Chef Waxman leans into his roots, celebrating the region’s local ingredients showcased in simple, seasonal dishes. Guests can enjoy a menu including Yellowfin Tuna Crudo with avocado, blood oranges, and fresno chili salsa, Cavatelli with dungeness crab, lemon, and parmesan, and Kurobuta Pork Chop Milanese with new potatoes and pepperonata. A few of Waxman’s trademark dishes make an appearance including the JW Kale Salad with anchovy dressing and breadcrumbs, and the famed JW Chicken with salsa verde.

A legendary hangout in North Beach since it opened in 1919, and even more so from the 1980's onward when Jeanette Etheredge took over Tosca. Locals including Willie Brown, Lars Ulrich and Francis Ford Coppola were regular fixtures, Hunter S Thompson wrote his column for the SF Examiner in the corner booth, Bono, Lauren Hutton, and Mikhail Baryshnikov played pool in the back room, singing Opera and drinking Tosca House Cappuccinos. When Restaurateur Anna Weinberg and Interior Designer Ken Fulk heard Tosca Cafe was closing they joined forces to save it. As the new owners and passionate fans of the original establishment their goal was to return Tosca to its rightful place as a San Francisco institution.     Rapid, happy, and friendly service; delicious and smooth presentation of drinks and food; delicious spaghetti all vongole and a seafood soup; interesting wines by the glass. Very noisy because it's very lively in there! Reservations a must. Really a hot table on a Saturday night with a line out the door for walk ups. $130 for two with wines, apps, and mains but no dessert. Happy to go back anytime.

    Booked the reservation after seeing an influencer post the amazing crab lo mein. The restaurant did not disappoint. The food was amazing and definitely Instagram worthy as well! Will be back
