Grotta di Fuoco, which translates to Fire Cave, is an industrial, rustic space with subtle lighting, raw steel, reclaimed wood, and concrete finishes. In 1688, Joseph Haviland built a tidewater gristmill that provided the locally-grown grains to a nearby bakery that supplied farmers and tradesmen with bread. It was the first public oven in New York State. Haviland’s Old Grist Mill and the public bakery were community gathering places for two centuries. Inspired by Joseph Haviland’s noble efforts, the Haviland Kitchen & Bar has been established for our neighbors. Went to the pantry, Tyler with friends on Wednesday night. The place was empty. The fall decor walking in and the interior of the restaurant were beautiful. We ordered a Reuben, cheeseburger, veggie flatbread, and a pre-chicken sandwich. Drinks for a Coke, a beer,and a half-price bottle of wine that was a great value at $17. The bill with tip came to $170. I thought that was a lot of money for four diner, sandwiches and fries. My husband won’t be back but I might go with friends for brunch. The brunch menu looks interesting

Grotto never disappoints. I find the food great; something for everyone. Cocktail choices very acceptable and reasonable priced. The pizza is the best of the best. Total bill I find very moderate for what we had. We had a small pizza as an appetizer and a shrimp main course and a main course pasta and three alcoholic drinks and one soft drink. A little noisy but a wonderful dinner
