In 1688, Joseph Haviland built a tidewater gristmill that provided the locally-grown grains to a nearby bakery that supplied farmers and tradesmen with bread. It was the first public oven in New York State. Haviland’s Old Grist Mill and the public bakery were community gathering places for two centuries. Inspired by Joseph Haviland’s noble efforts, the Haviland Kitchen & Bar has been established for our neighbors.     My second time there for brunch and the food was excellent both times. Their offerings are interesting and unique - makes it worth traveling there because it’s not just your typical basic dishes. Will definitely be back!

    Blown away by this little gem of a place. It’s clear that everyone who works here is happy to be here, even at the end of the night. This place has the best vibe and staff chemistry. And now to the food… OH MY GOD. Appetizers, drinks (including mocktails), entrees, and desserts were the highest quality in the whole area. Cannot recommend this place highly enough. One of the owners, DP, bartends and comes around to every table to make sure that everyone enjoyed themselves. Best Valentine’s Day ever. We will be back very soon.

    I had a great experience for my first time at The George. I went with a friend for a galentine's pop up event they were hosting. Staff were very friendly and attentive. I can't wait to go back and try their brunch!
