Carlton Wine Room is a neighbourhood restaurant offering a well-executed, fresh, seasonal food menu, and an ever changing, diverse wine list featuring the best of Italy, Australia and the rest of the World. Malin is a small neighbourhood restaurant in the heart of Rathdowne Village, Carlton North. Set in an 1880s property on the corner of Curtain and Rathdowne streets, the site has been renovated to honour the heritage of the building. The food menu, developed by Chef Clement Pilatre, samples European cuisine and showcases seasonal produce and frequently changing dishes. The drinks list favours emerging wine producers, while also giving a nod to the classics. Backed by travel and research every few months we pick a new region from India to explore and discover new hyper regional cuisine. This season we are cooking Parsi menu, a delightful blend of Persian and Gujarati flavors, reflecting the rich heritage of the Parsi community that migrated to Gujarat hundred’s of years ago to call India their home. Characterised by its use of fragrant spices, dried fruits, and a balance of sweet and tangy flavors, Parsi dishes are both unique and comforting. Parsi food often features an interplay of textures and flavors, with influences from their Persian roots and adaptations to local Indian ingredients, creating a culinary experience that’s both diverse and distinctive. We are cooking some traditional celebratory dishes to popular Parsi Cafe dishes on our Parsi Menu.Please note our next menu change is in March 2025. We cater for all dietary requirements. Outstanding in every way from the moment you enter. There was clearly a lot of thought behind the restaurant. The room is lovely, tables set with linen. The room feels serene and luxurious. The food is superb, modern French with an Australian accent. Every dish was outstanding. Service is relaxed and friendly. I highly recommend a dinner at Malin. I look forward to a return visit.

We had the Valentine’s Day set menu and the food was amazing, great quality. Staff were really nice. Only negative is that they tried to squish too many people into the restaurant and service was slightly slower than normal.
